Abstract Text: Join Balcones Satellite leaders for strategies on how to recruit, train, inspire and retain local volunteers to eliminate invasive plants in our communities. They will also share strategies for increasing awareness about invasive plants in the community through educational workshops and publications. During the past five years, the Balcones Satellite has trained 86 Citizen Scientists, contributed 3500 volunteer hours to eradicate 21,000 invasive plants, offered 16 community outreach workshops and contributed more than 50 educational articles to newsletters and journals. Discover ways that you can stop the spread and spread the word in your community! The Balcones Satellite was awarded the Outstanding Satellite of the Year from the Texas Invasive Plants and Pest Council in 2011.
