Abstract Title: TEXAS GULF REGION COOPERATIVE WEED MANAGEMENT AREA: A BRAZILIAN PEPPER-TREE PILOT PROJECT. Justin Bush*, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin, TX and Sean MacDougal, BLM Spokane District Office, Spokane, WA.

Abstract Text: The City of Port Aransas, in partnership with the Texas A&M Forest Service and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, were awarded a National Fish and Wildlife, Pulling Together Initiative grant to fund a pilot project establishing the State of Texas’ first Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA). The initial target species of this CWMA will be the invasive Brazilian Pepper-tree. The CWMA will allow project partners to leverage localized treatments to the regional level through coordination with key stakeholders like the Mission Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR), Nueces County and the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program.
