Emerald Ash Borer Traps

Currently, EAB surveillance traps are being deployed throughout the eastern half of the state. The EAB trap is easily recognized by its triangular shape and purple color. The surfaces are covered with glue and a special pheromone designed to increase attractiveness to the beetle.

EAB traps do not increase the risk of EAB being drawn to a given site from far away. Rather, they attract beetles from a very short distance to detect the presence of beetles already present in an area.

EAB trap locations are generally located close to ash trees in parks known for their high visitation rate by campers from EAB-infested states. If you see an EAB trap damaged or fallen from a tree, please contact the phone number printed on the trap.
