Abstract Title: AN UPDATE ON THE TEXASINVASIVES.ORG PROGRAM. Hans Landel, UT-Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Texasinvasives.org, Austin, TX.
Abstract Text: The Texasinvasives.org program was established 13 years ago. I will describe the program's organization, progress and future. Since its inception, the program has grown from a citizen science training program to one that manages the go-to website for invasive species information for Texas, manages the early detection and rapid response system called the Sentinel Pest Network, publishes a monthly e-newsletter, posts and manages the landing pages for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's invasive species campaigns, developed and maintains a mobile app, and provides outreach through presentations. It is also involved in the management of the Texas Gulf Region Cooperative Weed Management Area, and in the current efforts to establish two more Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas. While it continues to earn funding, it remains vulnerable to the loss of funding inn the future. The program will be moving from the UT-Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center to the Texas Invasive Species Institute at Sam Houston State University in the Fall of 2019.
